History

Traditional Jazz, Dixieland, Happy Jazz, New Orleans Music, Revival, Prostate Punk and now also Classic Jazz.

There are many ways to describe the same thing. The oldest form of jazz is stubbornly holding on into the 21st century and continuously finding new listeners. One of many bands that tenderly care for the tradition is the Sir Bourbon Dixieland Band from Gothenburg, Sweden. This crossover band is well rooted in the New Orleans tradition, but has also been heavily inspired by swing, which is clearly revealed on this CD, " From Monday On " .

Swing is mixed with typical New Orleans blues, performed with immense feeling. The musical happiness is striking, where the band puts their hearts into the music. As a listener, it is impossible avoiding being moved - the notes and the warmth simply absorb you.

Pelle Wetterlundh´s trumpet has spirit, Thomas Erlandsson´s clarinet is bubbly (and his voice is enthralling), Stig Erixon´s trombone is dignified, Stig Nilsson´s banjo provides stability, Kent Hjort´s double-bass sings and Leif Erlandsson´s drums have great rhythmic punch.

Whoever voluntarily or involuntarily listens to Sir Bourbon´s invigorating and energetic music will clearly be moved. Created in 1982, the band also captures later generations.

Music from school dances of the 1950´s is still going strong, even today. Sir Bourbon´s music is not only nostalgic, but also very modern. Close your eyes, listen and enjoy!
